Outlook not showing calendar or calendar items disappeared

Opened Outlook this morning to a blank calendar. Weeks of appointments gone from view. OWA in the browser still shows everything, so the data exists. What happened on the desktop side?

OWA showing everything is the key detail: data is safe on the server and the local view is broken.

Check the top of the calendar for an accidental filter. View tab, Reset View clears it. This is the cause more often than anyone admits.

In the folder pane make sure the right calendar has its checkbox ticked. Unticking hides it entirely.

Neither helps: local cache corruption. Close Outlook, rename the OST file in AppData, reopen and let it rebuild from the server.

Reset View. That is all it was. I aged five years for a filter. Solved.
