AOL keeps sending me account inactivity warnings and I do not trust it any more. I want the entire webmail account backed up locally, mail plus contacts. Is there a proper way to do this?

SysTools AOL Backup signs into the webmail account and downloads everything to your drive in PST, EML, MSG or MBOX format. Folders come across as-is and there is an incremental mode, so future runs only fetch new mail.
Pick PST if you might ever open it in Outlook, MBOX if you lean Thunderbird. Contacts export separately from AOL settings as a CSV, grab that too.
Full account backed up as PST plus the contacts CSV. Sleeping better. Solved.
