I have a bulk number of emails in the AOL Desktop email client. My senior assigned me a project where I need to convert AOL PFC to Outlook PST file. I have no idea about the procedure. Can anyone suggest a method?

Hi Dexter. Since you want to move data from AOL Desktop to MS Outlook, you can sync your AOL account in Outlook using POP or IMAP settings. Outlook pulls the mail down and stores it in a PST automatically.

Kerry, can you explain the procedure in detail?

Follow these steps:

1
Open MS Outlook. Go to File > Info > Account Settings > New.
2
Tick Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.
3
Select IMAP/POP. Under Server Information enter: Account Type IMAP, Incoming Mail Server imap.aol.com, Outgoing Server smtp.aol.com.
4
Enter your AOL account name and password in Login Information. Tick Remember Password then click More Settings.
5
In the Outgoing Server tab, tick My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
6
In the Advanced tab enter: Incoming Server (IMAP) port 993 with SSL, Outgoing Server (SMTP) port 587 with TLS/Auto.
7
Click OK, then Finish. Outlook will start syncing your AOL emails.

This method works but my Outlook keeps freezing during the synchronization. Is there a way to move data from AOL Desktop to Outlook without syncing?

Try SysTools AOL PFC Viewer Pro to export AOL folders to Outlook. It reads the PFC file directly and converts it to PST without needing MS Outlook installed. Much faster than the sync route and no freezing since Outlook stays out of the process.

That worked. Conversion finished without a single hang. Thanks Kerry.

Adding one more option for anyone landing here later. SysTools AOL Backup converts AOL webmail emails to PST, MSG, EML and MBOX formats. Use this one if your mail lives in the AOL web account rather than the desktop client's PFC file.
