The blog entry below encouraged you to take advantage of the first part of the summer to put your feet up, and take some time off from the beautiful game! I hope you enjoyed your rest! The good news is that Part II of Summer has arrived and it is now time to begin preparing for the upcoming season. This starts with you becoming physically active on a regular basis; playing with a soccer ball and participating in activities that will improve your cardiovascular endurance. It is important you understand that your path back to match fitness should be a slow one - you have almost 45 days to get yourself in shape, use them wisely! Warning: You don’t want to rely on preseason training to get yourself into shape. Not only will it increase your chance of injury but you will certainly not enjoy it as much! Don’t Feel Guilty - Blog Entry (Monday, June 11)
For those of you who have chosen to take it easy for the first part of the summer ... don’t feel guilty! It is important that you give your body and mind some time to rest and recover in between seasons. Now, please note that this does not mean you have permission to become a couch potato all summer; it is in fact an endorsement to cross train during the month of June! It also means that come July you need to begin seriously working on developing the foundation of your cardiovascular endurance in preparation for August training! But for now ... Enjoy!
